Why Rosé Belongs at the Thanksgiving Table

When most people think about Thanksgiving wine, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay usually come to mind. And don’t get me wrong, we love both. But there’s another wine that deserves a spot at the table, and it might surprise you.

Rosé.

I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t rosé a summer wine?

Not around here.

At Vaughn Duffy, we’ve always believed good wine is meant to be enjoyed whenever the occasion calls for it. And when it comes to Thanksgiving, rosé checks a surprising number of boxes.

Here’s why we’re making a case for pink wine this holiday season.

1. Thanksgiving Is a Lot of Flavors on One Plate

Think about everything that ends up on a Thanksgiving plate. Roasted turkey, buttery mashed potatoes, savory stuffing, tart cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, and maybe a few family recipes that only make an appearance once a year.

That’s a lot to ask of one wine.

Rosé has a unique ability to bridge those different flavors. It offers the freshness and acidity we love in white wines, with some of the fruit character that makes reds so appealing.

The result? A versatile wine that doesn’t compete with your food.

2. It Loves Turkey (and All the Trimmings)

Turkey is relatively delicate compared to richer meats, which makes it a great partner for rosé.

A chilled glass of our 2025 Rosé of Pinot Noir brings freshness to every bite, while its fruit character works beautifully alongside cranberry sauce and roasted vegetables.

And when you get to the richer dishes, like buttery stuffing, gravy, and creamy mashed potatoes, that refreshing acidity becomes especially welcome.

It’s the kind of wine you can pour before dinner and keep enjoying right through the main course.

3. It’s the Perfect Welcome Wine

Thanksgiving hosting can get a little hectic.

Between checking the turkey, finishing the sides, and making sure everyone has somewhere to sit, the last thing you need is to overthink the wine.

That’s where rosé comes in.

Serve it chilled as guests arrive, alongside a cheese board, charcuterie, or a few easy appetizers. It’s refreshing, approachable, and a great way to kick off the celebration.

One of our favorite pairings this year is Cranberry, Brie & Rosemary Puff Pastry Bites. They’re buttery, savory, just a little sweet, and especially delicious with a glass of rosé.

4. It Makes the Wine Pairing Easy

One of the best things about Thanksgiving is that everyone brings something different to the table.

The same goes for wine preferences.

Some guests love reds. Others prefer whites. And some are happy with whatever you pour.

Rosé sits comfortably in the middle, offering enough fruit to appeal to red wine drinkers and enough freshness for those who usually reach for a white.

Will it replace every bottle on the table? Probably not. We’re still opening Pinot Noir.

But if you’re looking for one wine that can carry you from appetizers through dinner, rosé is a pretty great place to start.

5. Because Rosé Season Doesn’t Have an Expiration Date

Somewhere along the way, rosé became synonymous with poolside afternoons and summer sunshine.

We’re here to challenge that.

Great rosé is about balance, freshness, and enjoying good wine with good people. None of those things disappear when the weather gets cooler.

In fact, we’d argue that a holiday table filled with family, friends, and great food is one of the best places to enjoy it.
